As we stated previously, in May Rich Straut, a member of the Village Board and liaison with CSX on the quiet zone project, reported that CSX had retained a consultant to begin the preliminary engineering work and that they planned to have the initial field investigations completed sometime in the middle of May.
Unfortunately, this turned out not to be the case.
After more than two months of delay and back and forth, we have received word from the Village Board that it has a fully executed contract with CSX for preliminary engineering. The Board also informed us that payment to CSX in accord with the contract, has been made. It now remains for CSX to start the work. Last week Mr. Straut spoke with Robert Rohauer, CSX Manager of Public Affairs and Community Relations, who said he would follow up with CSX regarding the start of the project. Mr. Straut said he would keep us informed.
