Quiet Zone Construction Moves Forward

December 17, 2025 by Steven Schreiber Leave a Comment

The last post, over a year ago, promised a rapid conclusion to our efforts to secure a Quiet Zone. However, a long negotiation evolved between Albany County and  CSX regarding Quiet Zone maintenance and liability. These issues were resolved only this month with CSX giving final approval to the construction and maintenance agreements.

Regarding the time frame for construction, CSX must first order the necessary equipment for the Quiet Zone which will take an estimated 3 months. The project will then be added to the construction schedule, which will likely put us out another 3 months. The best estimate is that construction will start in late summer of 2026.

After 13 years in operation, we will be terminating this website. We hope that it has been informative to those wanting to know about quiet zones in general and, specifically, to Voorheesville. We will continue to maintain a Facebook page and will closely monitor and report construction developments next year.
