On December 10, 2015 the NYS Department of Transportation hosted a meeting to discuss the quiet zone. Present were Mayor Conway; Rich Straut, the consultant engineer who is the contact person between the Village and CSX; Darrell Duncan and Bill Anslow from the Albany County Department of Public Works; Robert Rohauer from CSX; Lou Reh from NYSDOT; Lou Frangella from FRA; and Steven Schreiber from the Committee for a Quiet Zone in Voorheesville.
Mr. Straut made the case for a less expensive preliminary engineering design, pointing out that many of the elements in the $87,000 proposal of Bermann Associates were not needed for obtaining a reasonable estimate of project construction costs. Mr. Rohauer agreed to go back to CSX to see if they would do a less expensive design.
