At the Village Board workshop last night, the Board informed us that CSX had completed its quiet zone cost study and returned an estimate of $348,692 for construction and engineering. The Board decided it would be wise to price the project at $400,000 to cover contingencies and other potential costs not yet identified. In any case the cost estimates are dramatically lower than the figures originally given for the quiet zone, which greatly improves our chances of making it happen.
The mayor said the board would explore outside funding as well as look at the Village budget and possible bonding options.
The Committee for a Quiet Zone in Voorheesville will also be exploring funding sources. We welcome ideas from everyone in the community. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your thoughts
