About Us

The Committee for a Quiet Zone in Voorheesville began as a citizens’ effort to do something about train horn noise. During the summer of 2012, the Committee collected over 350 signatures on a petition requesting that the Village Board of Trustees take the necessary steps to establish a quiet zone. Since then the Committee has worked with numerous state and local legislators and officials to explore  design and funding options for the quiet zone. Following a long and winding road, we have now come to the point in 2019 where the Albany County government has approved a contract with CSX to begin engineering work for the project.

The committee consists of:

Barbara Brundage
Dan Byrnes
Ed Clark
Debra Fruchtman
Steve Greenberg
Sue Greenberg
Michael Paonessa
Stephen Reilly
Seth Rigberg
Terry Salo
Joyce Schreiber

Chairman: Steven Schreiber
