The Committee for a Quiet Zone in Voorheesville started in the summer of 2012 as a citizens’ effort to do something about train horn noise. During the summer of 2012, the Committee collected over 350 signatures on a petition requesting that the Village Board of Trustees take the necessary steps to establish a quiet zone. Members have written letters to the Altamont Enterprise (see this website's "Letters and Press" page) and regularly attend Village Board and Board Workshop meetings.
